Maumee needs more small businesses throughout neighborhoods to create a more walk-able and well-rounded community. Separating zoning by usage is not environmentally friendly or socially equitable.
Weekly farmer’s market (Union, Wolcott Grounds, Park by the library)
Outdoor entertainment/music/movies
Encourage block parties (Have a city-wide time for block parties)
Creation of central outdoor space for community events (like a town square)
Keep up play spaces at parks and implement more wild spaces and nature learning opportunities
Community center (outdoor and indoor space)
Encourage community garage sales by setting aside dates in the spring/fall
Create an arts commission to find local artists/talent to create public art, murals, art festivals
More retail & restaurants & bakeries & corner stores & hardware stores
Wider sidewalks
Incentives for small businesses who offer locally grown or created/produced items
Facade enhancement program
Signage upgrade program
Extend a dense uptown along some east-west streets
Mixed-use areas/traditional neighborhood design across the city
Shared off-street parking spaces
Encourage restaurants to grow their own food locally in urban farm spaces (see Balance in downtown Toledo & urban farm in Ohio City in Cleveland area)
Create space for Indoor market with local vendors selling homemade goods year-round (see Plymouth, MI)
